PhD, CGT
Kim has a relaxed, yet professional style, weaving humor and experiential exercises into her workshops and presentations whenever possible. Very comfortable in the teacher role, she has enjoyed presenting Level 1, 2, & 3 workshops and is excited to be an Advanced Trainer and Consultant for the Gottman Institute. She recently authored the book, Therapy for Relationships with Eating Disorders: A Clinician’s Guide to Gottman-RED Couples Therapy, with foreword by John Gottman and Julie Schwartz Gottman.
Kim is available to present about the Gottman Method, the Gottman-RED (Relationships with Eating Disorders) couples therapy, clinical supervision, or basic counseling skills. In addition, she is available to talk to university training clinic directors/student therapists about integrating couples therapy into the training process and providing couples therapy supervision to graduate students. Kim has developed a one-day workshop for couples and is in the process of developing trainings for clinicians working with couples with food, exercise, weight, or body image issues. She enjoys presenting to clinicians as well as the public about any of these topics.
*Accepting New Certification Candidates*
Kim has vivid memories of working with her consultant in the certification process. They worked well together, and she still has a strong connection with this amazing clinician. Even thought she had been in practice for over 20 years, Kim realized that she had more to learn. The feedback she received was invaluable and helped her become a better couples therapist. She still remembers the things she did “wrong” when showing her videos to her consultant and passes this advice forward when helping others learn about the Gottman Method.
This is the kind of consultation relationship Kim hopes to develop with her consultees and is looking for people who also believe that being a good therapist requires openness to learning forever!
Kim is available for consultation and is interested in offering both individual and group consultation. She believes that the opportunity to learn from other group members is very helpful. Ideally, consultees would meet once per month individually and once per month in group consultation. She is very comfortable in the consultant role due to many years of experience as a clinical supervisor, reviewing videos and providing kind, helpful feedback to students.
You can contact Kim directly to learn about her consultation pricing and more through her Gottman Referral Network profile here.
