This training will expand our co-morbidities courses and you will learn valuable skills that are relevant to your practice.

July 31 – August 1, 2025 from 9am – 1pm Pacific Time.

What you will learn

Drs. Don and Carrie Cole are presenting a new, 7-hour training on therapy for partner aggression and abuse. Research indicates that up to 78% of couples entering treatment report experiences of verbal aggression. In this training, you will learn the definition of partner aggression. Background research, as well as the relationship between partner aggression and domestic violence, will be discussed. There are multiple forms of aggression. Each of these will be identified and explained, along with the contributing factors of aggression. You will learn to assess and differentiate between situational and characterological partner aggression. Finally, you will learn how to treat partner aggression when appropriate using Gottman Method interventions.

In this session, you will learn to differentiate between situational and characterological partner aggression. You will also explore four key treatment goals: managing physiological escalation, enhancing your understanding of current partner dynamics, repairing the relationship, and reconnecting with your partner.

At The Gottman Institute, we appreciate you for the time you are investing in furthering your skills to better serve your couples. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to email us at training@gottman.com.
